About CSUDH Toro Auxiliary Partners:

The California State University, Dominguez Hills Toro Auxiliary Partners (“TAP”) is a non-profit organization and was incorporated in 1968 as a partner of California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) to provide supplemental services that enhance core academic programs, which are an integral part of the University’s educational mission. CSUDH is a highly diverse metropolitan university primarily serving the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. CSUDH is one of 23 campuses that comprise the California State University System.

Position Summary:

The major responsibilities of a Program Specialist for the Technology 4 Every 1 project include working alongside the CISE Instructional team and the Fab Lab team to facilitate the execution of instructional programs, such as, but not limited to, the Technology 4 Every 1 (T4E1) Initiative, STEAM Programming for 3rd -16th grade students, and Micro-credential courses for teachers. A flexible work schedule is required; work hours will include Saturdays and Summers.

This is a Part-time, non-exempt, temporary position.

Hourly Rate: $75.00

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and complement the mission of CISE.
  • Complete coding training, including:
    • Join Apple Teacher
    • Earn Apple Badges for iPad and Mac
    • Everyone Can Code (Puzzles + Adventures) & Exploration Curriculum Develop in Swift
    • TinkerCad starter Lessons
  • Attending the Apple CEI professional development sessions meeting and remain up-to-date with current apps, curriculum, and events related to the program.
  • Lead Coding Club sessions.
  • Help participants learn, review content with them, explain how to solve problems, and check for understanding.
  • Maintain appropriate and professional communication with supervisors, staff, teachers, school administration, and students.
  • Report all relevant information to the project manager and direct supervisor.
  • Adhere to workplace safety guidelines.
  • Teach the use of software, programs, applications, and equipment.
  • Leads and trains technicians and scholars in presenting and explaining the functions of the fab lab machines and related software.
  • Develops and executes checklists for STEAM events and/or training sessions to lead a group of Fab Lab Technicians.
  • Ensure a safe learning environment and organized program.
  • Co-develop, organize and execute STEAM Curriculum. Includes managing online classrooms and developing instructional materials.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • California Teaching Credential
  • Strong background in technical fields like Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Fabrication Technology (CNC machines, 3D Printers, Vinyl Cutters, Laser Cutters).
  • Completion of the Technology and Innovation in STEM Education Certifications, beginner, and intermediate levels.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment as needed.
  • Experience leading professional development for teachers.
  • Ability to interface and interact with all levels of staff (administrators, teachers, and students).
  • Self-motivated, responsible, and professional attitude at all times.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to arrive at the worksite at the scheduled time when meeting in person.
  • Must have access to a reliable internet connection and arrive on time for all assignments.
  • Fluent in the following programs: Google Suites, Microsoft Office, and their related applications. Must pass a criminal background check (LiveScan fingerprinting) and Background before beginning employment with children.
  • Must present proof of negative Tuberculosis skin test (Mantoux) before beginning employment dated within 60 days (no reimbursement).

Employee at TAP is on an at will basis and can be terminated by either an employee or TAP at any time with or without case or advanced notice. Permanent status can neither be obtained nor granted.
