About the Center for Innovation in STEM Education (CISE)

The Center for Innovation in STEM Education (CISE) at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) is excited to continue its impactful partnership with Apple through the Tech 4 Every 1 Program (T4E1). T4E1 introduces coding, fabrication technology, and computer science into K-16 education across Los Angeles, inspiring thousands of students with hands-on, project-based learning experiences.

We are seeking a T4E1 STEM Instructor to join our STEAM Summer Program. In this role, you will work closely with the CISE Instructional team and Fabrication Lab team to support and facilitate a STEAM Summer Camp, programming for students in grades Kinder through 8th grade.

Availability is needed Monday through Thursday, 12:30 pm – 5:00 pm, from July 7 to July 31. Two full planning days will take place before the start of instruction, and dates will be forthcoming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Align with and support the mission of CISE.
  • Facilitate the instruction of K-12 students participating in the T4E1 STEAM program.
  • Lead, organize, and monitor students during field trips.
  • Curate and modify the STEAM curriculum to be age-appropriate and integrate technology effectively.
  • Attend planning meetings and actively contribute to program development.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet students' diverse needs and interests.
  • Provide hands-on support to students by reviewing content, explaining problem-solving techniques, and checking for understanding.
  • Maintain professional communication with supervisors, staff, teachers, administrators, and students.
  • Report relevant information to the T4E1 Coordinator to ensure program success.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines to ensure a safe learning environment.
  • Teach students how to use software, applications, and equipment effectively.
  • Conduct briefings and debriefings with support staff, such as tutors or technicians, to ensure the successful execution of lessons and activities.
  • Help co-develop, organize, and execute engaging and effective STEAM curriculum.

Qualifications

  • Experience in integrating technology into instruction. Training on integrating iPads, 3D printing, vinyl cutting, and related software is available.
  • Familiarity with Project-Based Learning (PBL) or Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) approaches.
  • Completing the Technology and Innovation in STEM Education Certifications (beginner and intermediate levels) is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with students, staff, and administrators.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Self-motivated and professional, with a responsible and positive attitude.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and related applications.
  • Must pass a criminal background check (LiveScan fingerprinting) and present proof of a negative Tuberculosis skin test (Mantoux) dated within 60 days prior to employment.
