The California State University, Dominguez Hills Toro Auxiliary Partners was incorporated in 1968 as a partner of the University to provide services and develop and enhance programs that are an integral part of the University's educational mission. CSU Dominguez Hills is a highly diverse, metropolitan university primarily serving the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. Established in 1960, CSU Dominguez Hills is one of the 23 campuses that comprise the California State University system.

About the Position
The OVW Project Director and Prevention Education Coordinator is tasked with overseeing the day-to-day administrative and prevention education activities of the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) grant to reduce sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking on campus program at CSUDH. OVW grant activities will assist in accomplishing the following goals:
1. Improve law enforcement and institutional response to incidents of interpersonal violence in ways that account for safety and survivor agency and prioritize survivor well-being.
2. Increase survivor access to information and resources that support their ability to act independently and make informed decisions about their situation.
3. Improve campus climate and reduce interpersonal violence by implementing a comprehensive bystander intervention program involving students, staff, and faculty.

The position is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice for two years. The position may be extended depending on budget and future grant awards.

 

Position Information
Employment at Toro Auxiliary Partners is on an at-will basis and can be terminated by either an employee or Toro Auxiliary Partners at any time with or without cause or advance notice. Permanent status can neither be obtained nor granted.


This is a Full-time, exempt, regular benefited position employer-sponsored health, dental vision, life insurance, retirement program and vacation pay.

Pay Range:
$70,000 - 75,264.00 DOE

The position is funded for two years, possibly extending until September 2026, contingent upon budget considerations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Grant Administration

  • Oversees daily operations of all U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) Grant to Reduce Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking on Campus Program initiatives at CSUDH.
  • Performs administrative work associated with developing, coordinating, and implementing project activities.
  • Serves as co-chair of Campus Response Team Education Committee
  • Coordinates the work of the OVW campus coordinated response committee.
  • Serves as the main point of contact between the OVW and CSUDH.
  • Initiates and develops collaborative relationships with on and off-campus entities involved with the OVW grant.
  • Participates in mandatory and ongoing OVW training and technical assistance institutes. Must be able to travel to training conferences several times per year.
  • Maintains grant-related data and prepares progress reports.
  • Responsible for ensuring the campus meets the grant's statutory and programmatic requirements.
  • Performs other job-related duties, special projects, and activities as required by the DOJ/VAW grant.


Prevention Education

  • Creates and implements prevention education and promotes awareness of sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking.
  • Coordinates marketing campaigns to promote campus-wide violence prevention and response initiatives.
  • Leads the development and evaluation of CSUDH's Bystander intervention program, "Toros Take Action."
  • Assists with developing and facilitating educational trainings that target at-risk groups (fraternity and sorority members, student-athletes, underrepresented students, English language learners, etc.)
  • Assists with the delivery of annual student sexual assault prevention education programs, including orientation presentations and individual training sessions
  • Represents CAPE within the campus community during events such as orientation, resource fairs, and other tabling opportunities.


Minimum Requirements:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required master's degree preferred in behavioral sciences, counseling, social work, public or business administration, or a job‑related field.

EXPERIENCE: At least three years of professional experience providing prevention education or advocacy to address sexual assault, dating/ domestic violence, or stalking. Experience in higher education is strongly preferred.

SKILLS:
  • Ability to interpret and apply grant program rules and regulations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations, private and public agencies, and others in committee work and community contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with various constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, honesty, and solid ethical reasoning.
  • Ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and implementing long-range program improvements.
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to take initiative and independently organize, prioritize, and carry out detailed work under time constraints.
  • High energy level, self-motivated and self-directed to design and implement programming and events
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Demonstrated practical skills in project and budget management
