About the Position
The STEM Instructor for the Technology 4 Every 1 (T4E1) project plays a vital role in collaborating with the CISE Instructional team and the Fab Lab team to implement a range of instructional programs. Key initiatives include the T4E1 Initiative, STEAM Programming for students in grades 3-16, and Micro-credential courses for teachers. A flexible work schedule is essential, as the position will require availability on Saturdays and throughout the summer months.
This is a part-time non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $60.00.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Understand and complement the mission of CISE.
- Lead STEAM programming for K–12 students, demonstrating a strong passion for STEM education, creative problem-solving, and a commitment to inspiring student engagement and curiosity.
- Lead Professional Development for Adult Learners and Educators.
- Develop and execute program curriculum.
- Help participants learn, review content with them, explain how to solve problems, and check for understanding.
- Maintain appropriate and professional communication and conduct with supervisors, staff, teachers, school administration, and students.
- Report all relevant information to the project coordinator and direct supervisor.
- Adhere to workplace safety guidelines.
- Teach the use of software, programs, applications, and equipment.
- Develops and executes agendas, slide decks, and checklists for STEAM events and/or training.
- Lead and manage support staff, including Fabrication and Software Technicians and Student Assistants.
- Ensure a safe learning environment and an organized program.
- Co-develop, organize, and execute STEAM Curriculum. Includes managing classrooms and developing instructional materials.
Qualifications/ Requirements:
- Some background knowledge in technical fields such as Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Fabrication Technology (CNC machines, 3D printers, vinyl cutters, laser cutters), with a strong interest in learning and developing skills in these areas.
- Completion of the Technology and Innovation in STEM Education Certifications, beginner and intermediate levels, is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment as needed.
- Experience leading professional development is preferred.
- Ability to interface and interact with all levels of staff (administrators, teachers, and students).
- Self-motivated, responsible, and professional attitude at all times.
- Must have access to reliable transportation to arrive at the worksite at the scheduled time when working off-site.
- Fluent in the following programs: Google Suites, Microsoft Office, and their related applications. Must pass a criminal background check (LiveScan fingerprinting) and Background before beginning employment with children
- Must present proof of a negative Tuberculosis skin test (Mantoux) before beginning employment, dated within 60 days (no reimbursement).
